David Brooks: Bournemouth move had parents in tears

Former Sheffield United winger David Brooks admits his move to Bournemouth left his parents in tears.

Brooks previously revealed his Llangollen-born mum wept with glee after finding out he would be part of the Wales senior squad.

And the former Sheffield United star admitted both parents were overcome with emotion when discovering their son was set to play in the Premier League.

He told the Daily Echo: “I think they knew first! I was minding my own business, my agent told them of the news and they were delighted.

“When the news came around, they were over the moon – even my Dad also shed a tear this time!

“It was all a bit surreal because they just see me as their little boy. It all happened quite quickly, so we came down to Bournemouth to sort out everything."
