Former Manchester United and England star David Beckham has made his first managerial appointment for Inter Miami.

The newly formed MLS club will have Diego Alonso at the helm for its first season.

He is a former Monterrey boss who will take charge for the 2020 MLS campaign.

The news was announced by the club's official Twitter account.

Several high profile names were linked, such as Carlo Ancelotti and Patrick Vieira.

But Beckham and co may have gone with someone who has more experience of MLS and North American football.

Alonso was Monterrey boss for a single season, but it was the year they won the CONCACAF Champions League.
