Darwin boy Tambouras rapt with North Queensland win

North Queensland Fury's John Tambouras was delighted after his team defeated Adelaide United in a pre-season friendly in Darwin last night.

The Fury edged in front of the Reds with half an hour left to play, eventually winning 3-2, and the result was great for Tambouras who grew up in the city.

"We're all rapt obviously, but it's we're still in pre-season and we have to build on this," he said.

"Obviously beating Adelaide here in Darwin was what we needed and we'll go back to Townsville and get ready for August 8 against Sydney, we're looking forward to it.

"It was great to come out of the tunnel and see the crowd and hopefully we can get a few more games up here because the atmosphere was fantastic."
