Danny Ings says there's great spirit amongst the Southampton squad with preseason underway.

Ending the 2019/20 campaign with just one defeat from their final nine fixtures – picking up more points in that time than champions Liverpool – Ralph Hasenhüttl's side secured an 11th placed finish.

Striker Ings said, “There's a great feeling within the club at the moment with how we finished last season.

“With such a short turnaround, you want to carry on that momentum and that's what we'll be looking to do as a team. From day one we'll be really focused on how we can get better as a team and all the lads are hungry to do that.

"Everybody knows the manager wants to coach us and improve us, so for us it's important to be focused and concentrating ready for the first game.

“When you're on a run like the run we were on, you don't want the season to finish. You saw how strong we were toward the end of the season with the short break.

“I think it's good it's a short turnaround and we can carry on the momentum we built as a team."
