Danjuma strike puts Bournemouth ahead of Brentford in tight play-off

Arnaut Danjuma has given Bournemouth a narrow lead in their Championship play-off with Brentford.

Shortly after the half-time, Wales international David Brooks played a deft through ball to Danjuma on the edge of the area, and the Dutch forward calmly finished into the bottom right corner for his 16th goal of the season.

Brentford missed a glorious chance to equalise but Bryan Mbeumo could not poke home from six yards out with the goal wide open.

"It's half-time, it's a slight advantage," said Cherries boss Jonathan Woodgate after the game.

"We know how good Brentford are at home, we know how good the players are and the team is, they've been in this situation before and they've got that experience.

"It's far from over."

The second leg will be played at Brentford on Saturday.
