Danjuma on target as Villarreal secure deserved victory over Bayern Munich

Villarreal secured a stunning 1-0 win over Bayern Munich in their Champions League quarter-final first leg on Wednesday.

Heavy underdogs ahead of the tie, Unai Emery's side deserved a greater margin than what was shown on the scoreboard.

Arnaut Danjuma pounced from close range to score Villarreal's opener with eight minutes on the clock.

Former Arsenal midfielder Francis Coquelin had a goal ruled out while Gerard Moreno hit the post as the La Liga side pushed for a second.

Bayern were well off the pace and didn't manage a shot on target until the second-half.

Having knocked out Juventus in the previous round, Villarreal will feel confident they can get a result when they head to Bavaria next Tuesday.
