Daniel Alves joining Barcelona as squad's lowest paid

Daniel Alves is joining Barcelona as the club's lowest paid.

Sport says president Joan Laporta has had the club's delicate financial situation in mind when making new signings. Players like Eric Garcia, Memphis Depay and Sergio Aguero accepted lower offers than they had elsewhere to come to the club, with add-ons playing a key role in their salaries.

Alves has made it, in that sense, very easy for Barça. The Brazilian wanted to sign for the calendar year, taking him up to the World Cup in Qatar, but finally accepted a deal that only guarantees he will be at the club until June. Then, Barça will decide on his continuity at the club.

Alves will have the lowest salary in the first team but with the option to make more if certain variables are met. Some of them are related to success and trophies.

The Brazilian underwent a medical on Monday and will be presented officially on Wednesday. However, he cannot play until January, when the registration window opens.
