Daniel Alves has hit out at former Barcelona teammate Leo Messi.

Alves is furious with Messi after the Argentina captain claimed corruption at the Copa America as Brazil won the tournament.

Currently a free agent after leaving PSG, Brazil fullback Alves barked: "A friend is not always right just because he is a friend, you can say it in the heat of the moment, but I will continue to disagree.

"In the first place, it is disrespecting an institution like Seleçao, in my opinion.

"Secondly, it is being disrespectful with several professionals who put aside a lot of things to be there fighting for a dream, I'm a friend who always tells the truth when it's due, and I think he was wrong to say these things."
