PSG fullback Daniel Alves has recalled the time Manchester City boss Pep Guardiola left Barcelona.

Guardiola quit Barca in 2012 after losing the LaLiga title to Jose Mourinho's Real Madrid.

Alves said: "Surprised by the departure of Guardiola who claimed that he could no longer motivate the players? That's what we heard after.

"Pep completely lives for football and at one point it creates tension. He is very intelligent and knows his limits. But in my opinion, Guardiola - and later Luis Enrique - should not have announced their departure from the club so far in advance. All that does is create uncertainty in the team. It takes away some of his credibility.

"You can sometimes see it in the results as well. Players are used to being under pressure all the time. I remember sending a message to Paulinho, my Brazilian teammate, saying: 'The pressure is adrenaline'."
