The father of Newcastle United attacker Miguel Almiron has denied talk of an agreement with Atletico Madrid.

Paraguayan media sources have claimed Almiron has struck personal terms with Atletico.

But Almiron's father Ruben has dismissed the talk linking his son with a move to Spain, declaring there has been no contact between Atletico and the United forward.

Speaking on 970 AM radio station, Ruben Almiron said: "There is nothing from Atlético Madrid, nobody contacted him.

"Rather it was a rumour from the Spanish press."
