Arsenal announced the signing of the former PAS Giannina defender yesterday - with Gunners boss Arsene Wenger confirming a loan departure to the end of the season was likely.

Werder Bremen have been mentioned as a potential destination and Mavropanos' father admits a move is likely.

Thanasis Mavropanos told ANA-MPA: "Arsenal's interest has arisen only in the last ten days.

"It is likely that he will be loaned to Germany. But everything at the moment is 50-50."
