Cutler slams Aston Villa boo-boys: Gerrard didn't deserve that

Former Aston Villa goalkeeping coach Neil Cutler has hit out at fans over the way Steven Gerrard in the final weeks of his reign.

The Liverpool legend was relieved of his duties shortly after the final whistle blew on Villa's dismal performance at Fulham and an embarrassing 3-0 defeat. He has since been replaced by Unai Emery.

Cutler recalled on the Claret & Blue podcast: "His general persona, the way he is, he's desperate to win games and he brought that across with how he spoke to players, the meetings, how he trained, but it just didn't click.

"There was bad luck along the way with that too, we had injuries at difficult times. Given more luck he would've moved forward.

“He's not a bad person and he's not a bad manager, he's a top guy with some good ideas. He didn't deserve that [treatment from Villa supporters], but fans want results and in the end the results never came. That's just the way it is. There's a way fans want to see Villa play and they want results."
