Igor Akinfeev has his fingers crossed that CSKA Moscow can avoid another disappointing evening at the hands of Manchester United.
The Russian club led the Red Devils 3-1 in a Champions League fixture more than six years ago as they strived to produce an historic win over the Old Trafford outfit.
Late goals from Paul Scholes and Antonio Valencia denied CSKA a famous victory on that night which goalkeeper Akinfeev is hoping he and his teammates can avoid something similar when they host Louis van Gaal's men at the Arena Khimki on Wednesday night.
"I have some horrible memories because they managed to draw after we led 3-1 and they created a lot of chances," Akinfeev told UEFA.com.
"I am not trying to diminish Manchester United's success in any way, but they had a very strong team at that point.
"Michael Owen and Wayne Rooney were there, Edwin van der Sar was the goalkeeper, a lot of stars, so maybe they got scared by the fact they were losing at Old Trafford."
