CSKA Moscow chief Babayev: Why Chalov didn't go to Crystal Palace

CSKA Moscow chief Roman Babayev has revealed they made it clear to Crystal Palace they weren't interested in selling Fedor Chalov.

Palace made an attempt for the Russia international last week.

Babayev told Sport-Express: "The offer from Crystal Palace was made.

"We talked with the English club. But initially we made it clear to colleagues that we did not plan to transfer Fedor. The issue was closed quickly enough for us when trying to continue negotiations.

"We are pleased that the player is closely monitored. We thought that at the moment this would not benefit the team. Indeed, there would be a good deal. But we have an ambitious team. We cannot share transfer interests with the interests of the team."
