Crystal Palace winger Zaha: I get racially abused every game

Crystal Palace winger Wilfried Zaha has admitted that racial abuse is a regular part of his experience as a Premier League footballer.

Talk about racism from the stands and on social media has been a major controversy this season, with several high profile incidents.

While some believe the problem has improved, Zaha says that he hears abuse from the stands and online from fans all the time.

"Nearly every game I'm called a monkey or a n***** or a whatever," Zaha told The Jackal magazine.

"Imagine if I really got down about that?"

Asked if he would take the same high profile approach to combating racism as Raheem Sterling, he said:"'Yeah, Wilf Zaha's going to make a speech about racism.

"[I'm] so over it.

"I don't know if we're animals to them or whatever. Why is this okay? Why are you saying these things right next to your five-year-old kid?

"And then, when you leave, what, you're back to being a normal dad, working a normal job? People mask this stuff."
