Newcastle United are reportedly preparing for an offer from Crystal Palace for Andros Townsend.

Sky Sports suggests that Palace are set to activate the winger's £13million release clause which the Magpies are bracing themselves for.

Townsend joined the Toon from Tottenham for £12m in January but it is understood that he could remain in the Premier League with Alan Pardew keen to lure him to Selhurst Park.

Newcastle want the 24-year-old to join them in the Championship but Townsend may be open to a top flight stay if the Eagles come calling.
