Crystal Palace U23 coach Shaw: Sakho was sharp

Crystal Palace U23 coach Richard Shaw says Mamadou Sakho looked sharp on Monday night.

Sakho enjoyed 45 minutes in victory over Sheffield Wednesday.

"I thought Mama was fine in the first half," Shaw said.

"With Mama we were told it was just one half, that was set by the first team and we are told by them and go with it, and that's fine."

Meanwhile, he said it was good experience for the younger players to play in the same side as the likes of Sakho and Pape Souare.

He told the Croydon Advertiser: "Obviously they don't want to get injured because it is important they are available for the first team, but the younger boys have to embrace them coming down and learn from them and take their good habits, but also realise that this is their team and take the bull by the horns a bit."
