Crystal Palace are willing to smash their wage structure to sign free agent Max Meyer.
The Daily Mail says Palace are set to soar into the realms of the Premier League's biggest payers after agreeing a four-year deal for Meyer worth £35million.
The package works out at nearly £170,000 a week for the Germany midfielder who is available after leaving Schalke at the end of his contract.
Palace would have to pay Schalke a small compensation fee of around £450,000 for the 22-year-old's training and development.
Meyer's salary will dwarf the £120,000 a week which Palace pay striker Christian Benteke, their biggest earner, who arrived for £27m from Liverpool two years ago.
