Crystal Palace striker Christian Benteke admits he was pleased to be back in action for defeat to Watford.

Having missed every game since the beginning of September, Benteke was relieved to see action for the 2-1 loss.

He said, "It was really nice to be back there with the lads, especially when we're playing at home.

"It's just a shame that we didn't finish the game with a win. I think there's a long way to go, I've worked so hard to get back and I'm hopeful that I'll stay fit and score some goals.

"I came back at the right time because we were really solid those last few weeks and hopefully now I'm going to be there to help the lads."
