Crystal Palace midfielder Max Meyer felt he blew a chance for a winner during their 0-0 draw with Everton.

Meyer had a glorious opportunity to give the Eagles the lead, just moments after Jordan Ayew had failed to score from a similar position, but Jordan Pickford was equal to both attempts.

Meyer said, "I think I need to score from this position but it was a bit windy in this moment – that is not an excuse, I think I should score and I am sorry to the team.

"We tried to score [and capitalise on the man advantage after Morgan Schneiderlin's dismissal] but we were scared to get counter-attacked as Everton stayed deeper; it wasn't easy for us to create chances but we did our best and hope we can win the next game."
