Crystal Palace keeper Speroni has World Cup ambitions

Crystal Palace goalkeeper Julian Speroni admits he would love to force his way into the Argentina squad for the 2014 World Cup.

The 34-year old has only represented his country at U20 level but feels playing regularly in the Premier League could enhance his chances of making Alejandro Sabella's roster for Brazil this summer.

"Since I played for the under-20s side it's been a dream of mine to play for the senior national team," he told Sells.

"Obviously it's not my decision so all I can do is keep working hard, keep performing and hopefully the call will come and I will get my chance.

"I know there is an international break in March so we'll have to wait and see what happens.

"I'm playing regularly in one of the top leagues in the world now and I'm doing well so I'm just hoping that the coaching staff will have a look at me."

Argentina currently has Monaco's Sergio Romero, Catania's Mariano Andujar and Boca Juniors gloveman Agustin Orion ahead of Speroni and a couple of others in the goalkeeper pecking order.
