Crystal Palace goalkeeper Whitworth happy to make debut in Brighton defeat

Crystal Palace goalkeeper Joe Whitworth was satisfied with his debut in defeat to Brighton.

Palace lost 1-0 t Falmer stadium with Whitworth making his Premier League debut.

He said, "It was a tough game to lose today. We really needed to win this but we're going through a tough patch.

"We had a few good chances to put away but as a team we didn't do too much to win the game. In every game there will be chances and we need to take them.

"They hit us well on the counter, put a good ball in behind and it was hit well beyond me.

"We've been going through a tough run of games and Patrick [Vieira] keeps reinforcing that we need to stay positive but it just isn't going our way at the moment."

On making his debut, the youngster: "I was a bit nervous but I felt good. Since I started with the lads they've been really supportive. My whole family are Palace fans, I'm a Palace fan and it was great to make my debut against Brighton."
