Crystal Palace defender James Tomkins: Wolves very hard to break down

Crystal Palace defender James Tomkins says they must stay positive after defeat at home to Wolves.

Matt Doherty's 56th minute winner meant that Palace suffered a second league defeat in a week but Tomkins believes that there were enough positives in the home performance to give the squad going into the international break.

“They are a hard team to break down, we had a few chances but nothing clear cut but they got a few good blocks in there but it's disappointing to lose after I thought we dominated today really.

“They are always likely to get chances and from one of those they got the goal and that is the difference really."

Another Selhurst capacity crowd watched the game in torrential rain but as always their support kept pushing the lads through until the final whistle. Tomkins was left frustrated that both players and supporters

“The fans have always been good, both our home and away support is very good but it is just a shame they didn't have anything to cheer about today, they go away unhappy just like ourselves.

“We keep them with us because they are so important to us."
