Crystal Palace defender Marc Guehi is thrilled by the prospect of facing Chelsea in the FA Cup semifinal on Sunday.
Guehi left Chelsea for Palace last summer.
He said, "I came here hoping to get minutes and regular football and thankfully I've had the backing of the manager and done that.
"The team's been on an exciting journey and it's a surprise to be in the semis but through our hard work we've shown it's possible.
"The game at Leicester was a wake up. We'd been on such a good run but coming back to reality shows every game is difficult. That's our mindset, we've had a lot of success but we're up against it."
On the captaincy, he continued: "I feel like me. I'm a humble guy. Having been given the armband a few times this season it's a testament to the manager and players giving me the confidence to do so. I'm learning from the senior players.
"We have quite a lot of experience. [James] McArthur, [James] Tomkins, [Jordan] Ayew, [Wilfried] Zaha are just a few. A few have come in and we have a young team but there's also lots of experience in the team and belief."
Guehi also spoke of on-loan Conor Gallagher being blocked from facing his parent club.
"It's hard for him. He wants to play. He's been massive for us in the competition but he's been great this week, getting behind the team and supporting the team."
