Crystal Palace defender Joachim Andersen hit out at Olivier Giroud after Denmark's defeat to World Cup opponents France.

Andersen and AC Milan striker Giroud clashed throughout France's 2-1 win.

The Dane said: "I stood close to him, as I always do, and then he got a bit angry and lashed out at me, which I think was a bit strange, but he has to do it himself.

"He said that he thought that I held on to him too much, so there is not much more to it.

"Of course we would have liked to win, as it gives us more confidence. Overall, however, it was a good performance that we can build on. But we have to go out and win against Australia. It's a bit of a pressure situation we've put ourselves in, but Australia is a team we have to beat."
