Crystal Palace caretaker boss Paddy McCarthy praised James Tomkins for his performance in defeat at Arsenal.
McCarthy revealed that Joachim Andersen, who pulled out of the starting XI during the warm-up and was replaced by Tomkins, suffered a calf muscle injury.
“Joa's just done something to his calf," McCarthy said after the 4-1 defeat. “We'll just have to assess it and see how he is overnight.
“The thinking right away, when we got given the task to take the team, was 'can we get as much experience into the team as possible?'
“I thought Tonks [Tomkins] came in and did really well given the circumstances. Getting thrown in 15 minutes before a big game like this was never going to be easy and he stood up to the task."
