Crystal Palace manager Roy Hodgson is uncertain when Mamadou Sakho will return from injury.
The former Liverpool stopper has been out with a calf problem since the 1-1 draw with Newcastle United at the start of February.
"It is just a problem with scar tissue, which hampers his movement and is causing him pain," said Hodgson.
"It is a genuine injury; if it was mentality I am sure he would have been back a long time ago.
"The calf strain that caused him to miss out initially has healed, but unfortunately scar tissue which can be related to a much earlier injury is causing him problems.
"The medical staff and he himself are trying hard to overcome it, but we can't put a timescale on it."
