Crystal Palace boss Roy Hodgson has responded to claims from Robert Carlos of "destroying" him at Inter Milan.
Hodgson worked with Roberto Carlos at Inter before the Brazilian was sold to Real Madrid.
The Palace manager said, "The fact that he played out of his position with me is silly. Every game he played with me at Inter he did it as a left back. He scored four goals, I think in the first six or seven games. For the rest of the season, he shot about 28 and never scored again. So I can't know if it was all my fault.
"Roberto Carlos was a very attacking left back, he was young and I was new to the team. We didn't have a bad relationship, but when he left all hell broke loose. The decision to let him go was from the club and was mainly related to the fact that Inter's new CEO Luigi Predeval was very eager to reduce the amount of money being spent on transfers and wanted to bring some money to the club.
"Roberto Carlos was one of salable players. So he was sold."
