Crystal Palace boss Hodgson impressed by McCann's Doncaster work

Crystal Palace manager Roy Hodgson says there can be no underestimating FA Cup opponents Doncaster Rovers.

Hodgson has remarked upon how strong a side they are under manager Grant McCann.

Looking ahead to the game at the Keepmoat Stadium, Hodgson said: "I'm expecting a big challenge. They're doing very well at the moment and we've got a lot of respect for them. We've watched the videos of their team play and been impressed, and of course they're on a good run of results as well.

"It's not going to be an easy one by any stretch of the imagination and we've seen so many examples of that already. Doncaster are a team that's on the verge of the Championship so we're preparing for a real tough one."

Having finished in 15th last season, Doncaster currently sit 6th in League One under the stewardship of manager McCann who, having taken over in June last year, has overseen a turnaround in form and fortune for the Yorkshire side.

Hodgson took a moment to praise McCann and his achievements, saying: "I have a vague memory of him as a player at Peterborough. I don't remember much of his playing background but that's not saying much because I don't remember much about a lot of players and their playing background!

"I know he's doing a fantastic job there. I know his CV, I know the 500-odd league games he's had which is a fine achievement and very many of them were of course at Doncaster. He's very much a man of the people up there and he's doing a good job."
