Roy Hodgson says Crystal Palace were 'unlucky' in Monday night's 2-0 loss to Liverpool.
The Reds were awarded a penalty on the stroke of half-time after a foul on Mohamed Salah from Mamadou Sakho, which was converted by James Milner. Sadio Mane capped off the win with a second goal in stoppage time.
And Hodgson has lamented what he believes were poor decisions by the referee.
He said to Sky Sports: "I thought we pushed them very hard. We should have come in at 0-0 at half time and the the second half would have been even tougher.
"We gave them enough problems and we can consider ourselves unlucky to lose 2-0."
On the Salah's penalty decision, Hodgson added: "What would people expect me to say to that decision? There is no point discussing it. Sakho is a defender and he has to try and defend, which I think he did well. At the end of the game Van Dijk clears out Max Meyer and we didn't get a penalty. We were unlucky with referee decisions. I'm more interested in the fact we played really well."
