Crystal Palace boss Roy Hodgson has denied claims of new Rangers signing Jermain Defoe.

Hodgson has dismissed Defoe's claim that he rejected Crystal Palace.

The former England striker revealed he said no to staying in the Premier League club as he signed for Rangers.

But Eagles boss Hodgson 'categorically denies' that he was a target of theirs.

Defoe is now on an 18 month loan at Ibrox from Bournemouth.
