Crystal Palace academy chief Issott backing young duo for successful careers

Crystal Palace academy director Gary Issott is backing young duo Jake Gray and Jerome Binnom-Williams to carve our successful careers.

Gray has moved to Luton Town and Binnom-Williams to Peterborough United this week.

"Jake needs that game time, and you're always trying to get your players into the first team," Issott told the Croydon Advertiser.

"You do take great pride that if you get players who are good enough to go and forge a career, because that's not easy – a lot of players go into the system and disappear.

"Jake and Jerome can go and forge careers now in League One and Two, and hopefully beyond that."

Issott added: "For Jerome, Peterborough are a big club in League One. It gives him a platform to achieve what he wants to achieve in the game.

"Again, we wish him well and on paper it looks like a good move. Both deals just came about so quickly and that's football.

"It was a case of both parties finding it the right move at the right time and you have to make a call on it."
