Crypto company WAGMI United buy Crawley Town

A US group of crypto investors have bought League Two Crwaley Town.

Crawley Town has been sold to WAGMI United.

The change of ownership means that the club's former chairman and owner Ziya Eren is leaving the board. Instead, WAGMI co-founders Preston Johnson and Eben Smith take over.

The new owners have big ambitions with the new club, says Johnson.

"Crawley Town FC is a club with more than 125 years of rich history, which we honour and respect. But a conventional approach to ownership has not worked and the club is losing hundreds of thousands of pounds while fans year after year suffer from uninspiring results on the pitch," he stated.

"We want to test new ideas and build a worldwide community of fans who can get excited about cheering on Crawley Town."
