Vedran Corluka has heaped praise on Croatia teammate Luka Modric in the wake of his match-winner against Turkey on Sunday.

The 30-year-old Real Madrid midfielder produced a stunning volley in the first half to lead Croatia to a 1-0 win over the Turks in their opening Group D match at Euro2016, prompting the following words from his former Tottenham teammate.

"It's not a surprise," Lokomotiv Moscow defender Corluka told talkSPORT.

"He is an amazing player. He's in the top three players at Real Madrid and one of the best midfielders in Europe.

"We expect these things from him."

Croatia will next take on the Czech Republic in Saint-Etienne on Friday.
