Croatia pair Vrsaljko, Corluka mock England: It's not coming home!

Atletico Madrid defender Sime Vrsaljko has scoffed at England's playing style after Croatia's victory in their World Cup semifinal.

Vrsaljko says he saw nothing of the claims of a new-look England and believes Croatia's decision to press their opponents saw their limitations quickly exposed.

He told reporters: "The all-round perception was that this is a new-look England who have changed their ways of punting long balls up field but when we pressed them it turned out that they haven't."

There was more twisting of the knife into English hearts when Croatia defender Vedran Corluka, formerly of Manchester City and Tottenham, was asked to comment on their extra-time victory.

Failing to stop in the mixed zone at the Luzhniki Stadium in Moscow, the 32-year-old flatly said: "It's not coming home."
