Cristian Volpato has thanked Roma coach Jose Mourinho for backing him on the weekend.

The young Aussie striker scored on debut in their draw with Hellas Verona.

Volpato posted to social media: "I am very happy to have scored my first professional goal and even more so for having done it with this great club.

"I would like to thank everyone who helped me make my dream come true, especially my mother who has been by my side since day one.

"A big thank you to Mourinho who trusted me. Finally, I want to wish good luck to my Primavera team for tomorrow's match in the Coppa Italia (against Juventus). Forza Roma."
