Crewe coach not surprised by Bolton, West Ham interest for Fon Williams

Crewe Alexandra coach Steve Holland isn't surprised by Premiership interest for goalkeeper Owain Fon Williams.

The Anglesey-raised keeper's form with the Wales under-21 side is reported to have alerted Bolton, Blackburn, West Ham and Sunderland.

Holland told the Sentinel: "Owain has been on the bench, so he can't be any nearer the team than that. But we wouldn't put him in for Ben (Williams) on current form. While Ben made a mistake on Tuesday night (against Gillingham), his form has been excellent."

And Crewe's first-team coach added: "I'm not aware of it (Premier interest in Fon Williams), but it is not unusual for our young players to be attracting interest from other clubs.

"Owain has had some experience with the Wales under-21 side and he is a talented keeper, so it is not a surprise."
