The former Arsenal midfielder spent last season on-loan at Gresty Road.
"I have never known a player work as hard as him. He was a super player," Collins told The Sentinel.
"Every day he would ask to do extra work. On Christmas Day, when I was trying to get home to see my family, he was asking to do extra work on his finishing.
"He is a super lad and I wish him well because you want players like that to do well.
"I don't know why he has made his decision to go abroad but there will be good reasons for it and I don't think it will be for the money. "I have got his number so I will speak to him.
"He will improve and enhance his career there, and I am sure he will come back to England some-time in the future a better player and playing at a higher level."
