Crewe Alexandra boss Steve Evans has played down talk linking him with Barnsley.

Barnsley sacked Danny Wilson this week.

"It's only because of the connection," Davis told The Sentinel of any links.

"I had seven very good years there in the Championship and enjoyed my time there and maybe that's the reason that I've been mentioned.

"But I've not thought about it, I've only thought about speaking to Danny and wishing him well, which will be a conversation I have with him today.

"I'm only focused on what I do with Crewe and doing better for Crewe."
