Crewe Alexandra boss Dave Artell admits on-loan Everton midfielder Conor Grant is fighting to keep himself in the pro game.

Grant is on-loan at Gresty Road, with his deal to expire in June.

“He is a good player and he knows he has to produce it week in week out," Artell said.

"He is out of contract at Everton in the summer, and I don't know what they will do with him, but Conor knows that he has to do everything he possibly can to stay in football.

“He has that winning mentality and belief and that comes from being a Scouser. They have that in their culture and it is a terrific trait to have. I wish more players had it."
