Bolton boss Owen Coyle believes Sunday's visit of Manchester United is an ideal time to judge Wanderers progression under his stewardship. The Trotters have been on an upward curve since Coyle left Burnley to move to their local rivals in January.
A sequence of home solidarity has become a feature of Coyle's reign, which includes just two home defeats since he took charge of the Whites.
One of those defeats was to United back in March and the Trotters boss intends to use this weekend's clash to work out how far his team have come since then.
"This is a gauge to see if we have improved," said Coyle.
"We are in for a tough afternoon because I believe Manchester United will go close to winning the Premier League again.
"But I want to make sure we perform in a way where we have no regrets."
