Philippe Coutinho's hopes of securing a top Premier League move are being scuppered due to the financial side of a possible deal.
The Barcelona man has spent this season with Bayern Munich, but they do not want him permanently.
And Barca want to recoup around half the £142 million they spent to sign him from Liverpool.
That means a massive transfer fee for any club, and they would also have to pay his wages.
Coutinho earns nearly £250,000-a-week.
This makes a loan agreement difficult for most clubs, as Barcelona would want a £10 million fee and the other club to cover all of Coutinho's wages.
Unless the club reduces its loan and permanent transfer demands, and Coutinho lowers his salary requests, he may be stuck at the Catalan giants come next season.
The Brazilian has been linked with Chelsea, Newcastle United, Arsenal and Tottenham Hotspur.
