Fiorentina sports director Pantaleo Corvino has discussed the 'ones that got away' as he reflects on their summer market campaign.
Among those Fiorentina missed out on were Liverpool fullback Emiliano Insua, who eventually joined Galatasaray on-loan.
Corvino reflected: "It's understandable for Fiorentina to be criticised after five years of great success, but we need to find a balance. This is a dangerous year.
"We were interested in a number of players, but made our decisions for a good reason. Emiliano Insua wanted 1.2m per season, which isn't worth it for someone born in 1989.
"We had the option for Ezequiel Munoz, but he snapped his ligaments and we decided he wouldn't be the same player.
"Despite what the newspapers said, we never tried to sign Cristiano Lucarelli or Antonio Di Natale.
"I signed Mario Bolatti for 3.3m and could've sold him for double that, but he didn't want to leave."
