Corvino: Fiorentina had Vidic deal before Man Utd stepped in

Former Fiorentina chief Pantaleo Corvino says Nemanja Vidic almost never made it to Manchester United.

The United captain is moving to Italy in the summer to play for Inter Milan.

Corvino recalled to TMW: "Vidic to Inter? First of all I wish him a great season with Inter, but the first thing I will ask him is to give me back the stylish bag which he had asked from me (laughs).

"He had signed with Fiorentina after we paid the buyout clause he had with CSKA Moscow.

"We had reached an agreement for the transfer, but then came United with a salary three or four times greater than ours."
