AS Roma management have moved to assure Philippe Mexes of his place in coach Claudio Ranieri's plans.
Mexes has again expressed doubts over his future following the arrival of fellow defender Nicolas Burdisso from Inter Milan.
"Philippe is a great person and we have already discussed his contract renewal a couple of times, but he said he wants to wait," said director Bruno Conti.
"Let it be clear we have no intention of losing the player, as we consider him to be a crucial element of the squad.
"Daniele Pradè calls his agent every day to find an agreement. We'll meet up again over the next few days."
