Yeung: Bruce right man for Birmingham

Prospective Birmingham City owner Carson Yeung has assured manager Steve Bruce that his job is safe.

"He [Bruce] is a very good coach and a good leader," said Yeung, who became Birmingham's single biggest shareholder when he paid £15m for a 29.9% stake in the club last month. "Of course he is going to stay. We have spoken to him and given him confidence."

Yeung has also signalled his intention to retain Karren Brady, the managing director, who has been running the club on a day-to-day basis since she arrived at St Andrew's in 1992. David Gold, the chairman, will also remain involved as Yeung seeks to ensure a smooth takeover.

"I would rather let them help us and we have spoken to them about this already," said Yeung, who claimed Gold and Brady were keen to stay on.
