Wigan's Montrose happy with Cheltenham loan move

Wigan's 19-year-old midfielder Lewis Montrose has joined Cheltenham Town on-loan.

He told Wigan's official club website: "I'm hoping to be in contention for the first team, and to gain some vital experience. Martin Allen is a good manager and I'm hoping to get some playing time under my belt."

Wigan boss Steve Bruce, who has given his backing to move, said: "I hope Lewis gets his chance. There is nothing like first-team football to help a young player's development. Now it's up to him to make an impression down there."
