Boss Tony Mowbray had hoped to add the 27-year-old Ivory Coast international to his squad, but has seen his efforts end in failure.
Mowbray said: "We made an enquiry for the player, but we couldn't reach an agreement so we move on. I would suggest it is dead in the water.
"My philosophy when you've got an interest in a player is that you know what your value of that footballer is. If it can't be done, it can't be done and you move on."
