West Brom battling to find quality midfield signing

West Brom boss Tony Mowbray admits he's desperate to land a quality midfield signing.

"I noticed that (Marcos) Senna was valued at £20million, but that's football," said Mowbray. "You want players who can run, pass, destroy, create and they cost money.

"So somewhere down the line you compromise on one particular facet of their game, or two, depending on how much you want to spend.

"Sometimes you get athletic, non-passers, who will compete and fight for you all day, other times you get great passers, who move the ball but can't run and can't tackle.

"As the window goes on you may decide you need a certain type of player but you always hope you'll find a diamond somewhere, someone has all those attributes and makes people ask 'wow, where did you get him from?'"
