Maik Taylor has urged Birmingham City to secure on-loan Al Sadd striker Mauro Zarate to a permanent deal.

The goalkeeper said: "It would be great if we could get him permanently. I don't know if they are going to spend the money, 20 million euros or £20 million, whatever it is, but his ability and quality is there for all to see.

"He has taken a bit of time to adapt to the pace and physical side of the Premier League but he is learning very quickly and has got a lot of unbelievable ability there.

"He would be a great asset if we can get him."
